SOUTH FARM ROAD
We completely transformed this dated 1970s kitchen into a bright, modern space tailored to today’s lifestyle. The renovation reimagined the layout, replacing the original U-shaped kitchen with a spacious island design that maximizes square footage and enhances flow. By removing upper cabinetry and introducing floating shelves around a large window, the space now feels open and flooded with natural light. The new island replaced the need for a traditional breakfast nook, seamlessly connecting the kitchen to an open-concept living area—ideal for cooking, entertaining, and family gatherings.
This 1980s home, set on 10 acres, originally featured dark oak cabinets, Formica countertops, and linoleum floors—elements reminiscent of the clients’ youth that no longer fit their modern lifestyle. The challenge was to design a kitchen and living space that reflected their needs while working within existing structural constraints. Plumbing restrictions inspired a fully reimagined layout, allowing the team to create a functional and inviting space for this active young family.
Key design elements included an apron sink, double trash station, ample storage, a pantry, upgraded ventilation, and generous seating. Achieving this required strategic modifications: removing two walls, eliminating upper cabinets, replacing a bay window with a door, and opening the space to accommodate the oversized island. These thoughtful changes resulted in a kitchen that perfectly balances functionality, modern aesthetics, and family-centered living.
Testimonial: “Nathan is such a fantastic designer. This is what they were born to do. He totally respected my taste and time frame and I plan to hire him again very soon. I highly recommend Obelisk Home for any interior design or remodel project.”
