BIG BEND
This project began with inspiration images from the homeowners and evolved, through countless meetings and thoughtful design decisions, into a stunning home set in a serene landscape. A pivoting anodized metal door opens to a dramatic entry with floating wood stairs, steel supports, and glass railings, leading into a two-story living room defined by soaring windows and a statement fireplace that flows seamlessly into a chef’s kitchen. Each bedroom features a custom bath and closet tailored to its occupant, including a bold main-level powder bath wrapped in floor-to-ceiling black marble and a serene principal bath with caramel cabinetry and a chandelier suspended above the tub for a spa-like feel. We joined during the blueprint stage and transformed a divided layout into a multi-purpose game room with seven recliners, game tables, a custom 20-foot rug, motorized shades, blackout drapery, and locally sourced art, creating a space that easily shifts from family movie nights to large gatherings. Designed for both visibility and performance, the laundry room includes custom-printed marble floors, a herringbone backsplash, black doors, and riff-sawn oak cabinetry, along with dedicated lockers for each family member. As construction wrapped, we layered in custom stairwell chandeliers, art lighting, and a programmable whole-home system to balance task lighting with statement design. Anchoring it all is a white European oak floor imported from Italy, used throughout the home and reimagined in a herringbone pattern in the breezeway, while custom marble tile in the mudroom adds geometric contrast—bringing warmth, cohesion, and intimacy to this expansive contemporary home.
Testimonial: “We hired Obelisk Home for all areas and elements of design including interior and some exterior. We will also be using Nathan for furnishings in the home. Nathan has been great to work with and has fantastic ideas about design and understands the construction process as well. We would highly recommend Nathan to anyone needing assistance with design work.”
