Project Description

SOUTH SYDNEY

Objective

Boys Room
We were asked to make a youthful, yet timeless room that can last until college and beyond for a 15 year old boy who loves baseball, Great Britain and school. With an interest in multiple sports, a theme-less room is what the boy wanted.

Leather and only very durable fabrics were a must-have from mom. We chose metal, leather, wood and a blue to be as closely matched to his older brother’s college color as possible. Original art by Shelley Forbes added the burst of color, and due to her method, is nearly indestructible. Window coverings were designed to resemble the stripes on the edge of the field and the ticking fabric to pay homage to old time baseball uniforms.

Girls Room
Tasked to create a bedroom that conveys an oasis and represents the homeowner’s love of Nantucket.

Exaggerated headboard wainscoting with corbels and a plate rail was added, walls painted Duck Blue. In place of lamps, we added chandeliers to create a dramatic effect.  The chandeliers were made by hand with capiz shells to create the sound of crashing water on the beach. Local art and photographs taken by the client’s daughter add to the traveled theme. Linen and cotton were the perfect choice for the coastal theme.
