Mary Hamilton, a Missouri native, was born in Sedalia, but has lived in Springfield all of her adult life. She received her B.S. degree in Art and Language Arts education from Southwest Missouri State University (MSU) in Springfield, Missouri in 1977. She and husband, Jim, have 3 adult children, Riley, Leah and Lane.
Mary taught elementary and high school art in Springfield Public Schools for 15 years and drawing for adults at the Springfield Regional Arts Council before starting her own design business, Custom Art and Design, in 2004.
As a professional artist, Mary has been juried into Springfield Art Museum’s MOAK exhibition and Missouri State Fair’s Missouri 50 exhibition. Her artwork has been chosen for the cover of the 2010 AT&T Phone Book, local advertisements, posters and calendars. She is proud to be represented by Obelisk Home where she also displays painted vintage purses.
