With a name like Obelisk Home you can guess we like design icons. So much in fact we have had the pleasure of making an Obelisk Home ABC’s of Iconic Design.
A is for Antiques. Authentic, emotional and always appreciated for contributing character to a space.
B is for Books. Stacks of self-defining, impressive, can’t ever get enough, love to layer books.
C is for Chinoisiere. Hand painted, gloriously detailed Asian influence at it’s best.
D is for Directors Chair. Born for function, lives on for form.
E is for Eames chair. Nothing comes close to its timeless, chic, uniqueness.
F is for Ferrule. The little, lovely metal socks on antique furniture feet. Casters are optional.
G is for Greek Key. The sexy design motif that keeps waving through our design psyche.
H is for Hounds Tooth. A pattern both structured and refined enough to appeal to all.
I is for Industrial Design. It’s cool to acknowledge where you came from and consider how it’s made.
J is for J.Kent Martin. Obviously.
K is for Klismos Chair, the gently curved, supremely svelte chair that the Egyptians dreamed up and we still dream about.
L is for Lauren. Ralph Lauren. Drop the mic.
M is for Marble from tables to lamp, from counters to floors. We’ll take any way we can get it.
N is for nesting tables. Infinitely useful and wise.
O is for OBELISK. The ancient Greek symbol of virility and health, it literally “pierces through the clouds with lasting strength.”
P is for Photography—especially black and white.
Q is for Quilting- From Coco Channel’s diamond pattern on a lampshade or chair seat to the classic handmade art form of quilt making.
R is for Rugs, all sizes, shapes, origins, and constructions. Artwork for the floor.
S is for Sconces—Good with a cord, even better when hardwired. Subway tile is a very close runner up.
T is for trays. There are more uses for beautiful tray than there are beautiful trays.
U is for Union Jack Flag. It just is. Even if you’re not British.
V is for Venetian Mirrors or Velvet? Your choice.
W is for wallpaper. Charming then and now. Proof that you have design intention and confidence.
X is for the X-back chair, X Base table, X back anything.
Y is for Yellow. The quintessential statement color. Depending on the shade–sunny, striking or strong.
Z is for Zebra patterns and zebra rugs. OK, faux Zebra rugs.
