Clay lends itself to a variety of movements that are natural, simple and elegant. The process of creating work with the idea of movement in mind allows a relationship and language to develop between maker and medium. Some of the pieces are made from clay that has been stressed to its limits...the cracks on the surface stop short of limiting the structural integrity. Other objects are created from cloth, impregnated with slip, and draped over forms, allowing gravity to pull and shape them. Some movements are conceptual, an abstraction of natural forces.
