Ismael Ortiz
My work is comprised of found objects conceptually combined to express the meaning and relevance of daily items. I use objects from the past, from other's lives, and from nature. By placing them in a new context where balance, purpose, placement and harmony associate the pieces to one another, I ask the viewer to rethink the familiar objects that make up a piece and relate them to present situations and social conditions. Some works are meant to have a social voice while others are meant to accentuate the beauty of the items.
